Fundraising

See you at the next event!

Most Lions Clubs have two or three “Big Events” each year. Below is a list of our Annual Fundraiser Events. Watch for flyers or posters around town, and keep checking your newspaper and then participate!

Our fundraisers allow us to do what we love to do for the Community!

Powers-Spalding Annual Birthday/Anniversary/School Sports Event Calendar:

This is a monthly calendar that our community participates in! This calendar has almost 2,000 birthdays, Anniversary’s, and School Sports Events! There are also 36 display ads advertising local businesses on the cover so you can refer to their information and phone numbers all year long!
So how do you get your family dates on the Calendar? The process is simple:
A family member calls the Lions Club Calendar Chairman and gives them their family’s information. The Lion’s Club keeps the dates on an index card. Every year we ask if you would like a calendar and if any additions or changes should be made. The Calendars are ordered in May and then delivered to you shortly after!
Submit your information before April 1st! Call to get your family on the Calendar, or you can also buy calendars without having birthdates on the Calendar!

Annual Pancake Breakfast and Bake Sale: May

This fundraiser is held in May at St. John Neumann’s Church in Spalding every year. This is an event you won’t want to miss! The Lions have a number of delicious breakfast items including pancakes, with locally made Maple Syrup, sausage, scrambled eggs and more! The Bake Sale is not to be missed! So many wonderful desserts made by the community, the hardest part is what to choose!
What a great way to get out and visit with friends and family, have a great breakfast, and support your local Lions Club! Watch the Lufts for the announcement and date!

Annual Lions Club Raffle for local Little League Teams: May Through August

The Lions Club always has a great line-up of prizes and even cash for the winners! The prizes are generously donated by the local community businesses that you support! This drawing is held in August. You will be able to buy tickets all summer long. If you do not know where to buy tickets, or can’t find them, ask a Lion!
What a great way to support the Lions and win super prizes! Good luck!

4th of July Celebration:

The Lions Club alternates sponsoring this event with the Local American Legion Club every year. This is by far the Lion Club’s most attended and most successful fundraiser! Every year, it gets bigger and better! This is a tradition not only for Powers-Spalding residents, but also for surrounding communities as well!
Watch the Lufts for the announcement and date!

This fun celebration includes:

  • A huge Parade in which kids and adults alike can enter a float or ride their decorated bicycle and try to win cash prizes! After the Parade, everyone goes to Veteran’s Park in Powers for the festivities!
  • The Lions also serve up some great Food, including locally made pasties, and the local American Legion Club partners with the Lions and volunteers their time serving beverages.
  • Every year there is a fabulous band which is typically a locally, well known band! Great music and dancing throughout the night for everyone!
  • The kids have a blast during the races with cash prizes and the Fishing Derby has always been one of the most successful events for the kids to participate in!

Spalding Township Community Picnic: July

This is a new event and started in 2012! The event is organized by the Spalding Township Volunteer Fire Department as a way to bring all of the area communities together. Everyone is invited to attend which in turn, helps the Fire Department raise funds to purchase new equipment. With the help of the Powers-Spalding Lions Club, American Legion, Sons of the American Legion and the Spalding Township Volunteer Fire Department, we are putting together this annual event at the Veteran’s Memorial Park in Powers. This is a chance for everyone to come out and meet the volunteers from all of these groups, see some great bands and enjoy food and refreshments.

This celebration will also have educational events and booths for everyone to learn more about fire prevention and safety. Come out and enjoy the great weather, have some delicious food, listen to some fantastic music and support your local organizations and the Spalding Township Volunteer Fire Department!

Annual Lion’s Club Pasty Fundraiser: Last Saturday in October

This is the Lions Club second most successful fundraising event of the year! Every year the Club makes and bakes more pasties! In 2012, the Club made about 2,300 Pasties! The community pre-orders pasties and then picks them up at NCA High School. This is an event that the community really looks forward to, and the Lions Club is very grateful for the support throughout the years!

How can you help? Please give us a call and let a Lion Member know if you would like to help out with the preparation and selling of the pasties-We need your help!
